As a fervent advocate for innovative educational practices, I have watched the meteoric rise of AI in the educational landscape with interest, curiosity, and a dash of trepidation. In countless conversations during podcasts, webinars, and social media interactions, it is palpable that AI has become the crest of a wave that is reshaping education, presenting both intriguing prospects and significant challenges.

AI's interaction with the field of education is uniquely twofold: we must consider it as both a subject to be dissected, explored, and imparted, and a tool that can streamline, augment, and revolutionise various aspects of teaching and learning. This intricate dance between the 'should' and the 'is' forms a vibrant part of the broader narrative on AI in education.

AI Integration in Schools

Unveiling the roadmap to the integration of AI in our schools reveals several crucial short, medium, and long-term markers. In the initial stage, we need to reassess existing assessments to minimise AI-powered plagiarism and equip educators with a strong foundation of knowledge and skills about AI. It is also critical to advance administrative systems and develop appropriate AI policies. As we move further along this path, it becomes crucial to fine-tune these strategies, learn from shared experiences, and reshape pedagogical practices to fully embed students in an AI-enriched educational environment.

AI Reinventing Project-Based Learning

My teaching philosophy has always leaned towards active, immersive learning, which is why project-based learning (PBL) resonates with me. PBL, however, comes with its unique set of challenges, such as gauging the depth of knowledge and the effectiveness of assessments. The process I went through to generate this article involved setting up the chatbot with specifics prompts and inputting ten articles I had previously written (without AI assistance) and published online. I proof read the output meticulously and changed one word I did not like. The remainder of the article is untouched. It is made up of my own words, sentences and style throughout.
